Oh, can it be true? A web game with all of the pulse pounding action of your favorite deathmatch game like Unreal Tournament or Quake? Well, that may be saying a bit much, but this cool little game certainly has a lot of what you’d expect from any action game of that era. That’s pretty impressive to be packaged in a portable web app that can be played on any PC with the shockwave plugin.

Go have a good time fraggin’ at work, school or grandma’s.

Just don’t tell them you heard it from me.

Fortress Forever – Dustbowl Valley

Over at www.fortress-forever.com they’ve put out a brand new teaser video of their rendition of the classic TFC map, Dustbowl. This is the first video I’ve seen of the new mod that shows any real sort of in-game action, and I’m totally pumped about it. This really looks like the action-packed fragfest that I’ve been lacking for the last few years where TFC has become all but extinct.

With Valve’s planning to come out with their TF2 game later this year, it will be tough to say how well Fortress Forever is going to hold up in the modern era. I can only wait and hope that it’s received as well as I hope it will be. This is shaping up to be one of the best looking mods/games in years. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Lukas Rossi brings home the cup!

Congratulations Lukas!

Booyah!

This crazy contest to be a part of the elite band, Supernova has finally come to an end, and it couldn’t have gone to a more deserving person. Lukas Rossi will now head off on tour with huge rockstars Gilby Clarke (Guns n Roses), Jason Newsted (Metallica) and Tommy Lee (Motley Crue).

Since the opening face-off, Lukas has been my hands-down favorite, and I’m so happy to see him win it all. There is something truely unique about his stage presence and vocals that make him so interesting to watch. I’m kind of sad to see the show end, because I’ll no longer be able to get my weekly fix of Lukas. But it will be great to see where he goes with this band. I personally think that he will be a superstar in the industry for years to come.

… But enough of my rambling. As the saying goes, “a picture says a thousand words”. So that must mean that a video would say at least 10,000 words. Head on over to this fan site to watch all of the performances since the beginning of the season.

The double standard in Information Technology…

I’m a pretty care-free person. I don’t get worked up over little things. I understand that my purpose as a member of IT is to help people to be as productive as possible because in the end, if they didn’t need the help, then I wouldn’t have a job in IT.

However, there comes a time when people should take on some responsability for how they do their job, and stop blaming everything on computers. It’s so easy to say “Oh, I don’t know anything about computers. I’ll let IT handle it”. Well, I know next to nothing about
Finance, Shipping, Sales, and many other common office roles. So why is it that I am left to figure out how computer systems should handle these tasks. Surely a sales manager should know what is needed by his own department better than the System Admin. If he tells me he needs a program built but doesn’t tell me that it needs to be able to do x and I build it to do y, I shouldn’t be the one to take the heat when they find out that x is missing. I bust my ass to make all of these systems work properly for people who refuse to take the time to figure out how they should work.

To put this in a scenario that anyone can understand… If I give you a staple gun, and write a book for you called “101 safe ways to use a staple gun”, I’m not going to take responsibility if you proceed to throw away the staple gun, and nail your tongue to the floor.

You want your IT department to help you, but you won’t help us to help you!

Rockstar Supernova – Storm goes home! Dilana stays?

OK. I’ll admit that I actually liked Dilana at the beginning of this season of Rockstar. She came across pretty edgy, and unique. But as the weeks went on, it didn’t take long before I saw right through her. Ever since about week 3 or 4, I started to think she was way overrated, and now it’s proven with this video…

Good god! Is this what we can expect from Supernova given the slim chance that she actually WINS this thing? I’ve listened to some of the earlier stuff from the likes of Storm, Ryan and Josh, and I actually really liked it. But give me a break! This hokey pop song is so bad that I’m surprised they even let her on the show to begin with.

OK. Now that my rant is over. It’s time to talk about tonight’s show.
Toby’s Encore was frustrating to watch. Not because of the song itsself, but because of his TOTAL lack of showmanship. The entire time
I was saying to myself. “Please just stay on the stage!” And off he goes into the crowd for the 4th?… maybe 5th week in a row? What is with that? It’s like he’s scared to be in the spotlight, so he runs around the crowd like he’s playing at a high-school dance. I liked the song though. Probably one of the better ones he’s done.

Dilana actually did OK tonight. Not great but good enough. Good for her to be so active up there even when she couldn’t walk. Not sure if it’s all an act or what, but I’ll give her the benifit of the doubt.

Lukas was great as always. I love his original stuff way more than all of these covers. Hope that next week he gets to do another one.

I’m sorry to see Storm go, but I kind-of expected it. She has a really cool style that we really never got to see on the show. Just search for “storm inc” on www.youtube.com and you will see what I mean. It’s too bad that it’s not until after she’s gone that I discover how good she really is. Oh well. I’m sure that this isn’t the last we’ll see of her.

Looking forward to the Final four next week. I can’t wait! My prediction. Lukas & Magni are the final two, and Lukas takes it all.

Rockstar SuperNova

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of this show. Well, I’ve been following it since day 1 and I am totally hooked! I’m usually the last person to get so into a Reality TV show, but for some reason, this one has really taken me.

This week’s show was just awesome. My favorite as always, is Lukas. But Toby and Storm also had a great night. Some really great original songs from everyone all around. All of the five remaining performers are going to have great careers ahead of them, I am sure.
